Practice Costuming

Practice Costuming:

To practice, you should be comfortable. A pair of yoga pants, a sports bra (or other well-supporting bra) and a comfortable top that you can tuck or tie up to see the way your moves look is a nice start. You also need some sort of hip scarf - either fringed or coined so you can see your hip moves better. A lot of people prefer coined hip scarves - these are good because you can hear your moves and know whether or not you are isolating your hips, but there are teachers that would rather you not use a coined scarf in class because the noise can be distracting. A broomstick skirt or other full skirt is a good item to include in your practice costuming. Just be sure you can tuck it up so that your legs and feet can be seen when you are learning new moves. I usually practice in a pair of harem pants and a tank top with a fringed scarf so I can see my hip motion.
